HTC is the first manufacturer to the Windows Phone GDR2 update rolling out in the Netherlands. Owners of the HTC Windows Phone 8X and 8S get the update since Friday. The update seems to be Internet Explorer 10 in Windows Phone 8 to make faster and polish.
graphics performance
The update adds include the ability to listen to FM radio: the hardware supported that, but Microsoft had the feature for unknown reason removed from Windows Phone. Also, the ‘other opslag’-problem solved. Manufacturers have released apps for emptying, which is automatically filled ran the cache. Especially on cheaper devices with storage memory of 4GB in size is a problem.
addition is Data Sense, the function to save some providers, comprehensive data, the user may set limits and the function works with more providers. Data Sense does not seem to work on the Dutch Tweakers device that the update has been tried. Internet Explorer also includes improvements to support html5, according to the limited changelog.

id=”searchButton” class=”searchButton”> From benchmarks Tweakers did on an HTC Windows Phone 8X with the update that the browser does it better. The benchmark with a static frontpage 35x in a row is loaded, it appears that the HTC 8X on average a quarter less time than doing the update. With 0.61 seconds, IE10 near the scores of similar Android devices. On other browser benchmarks as Kraken and Peacekeeper shows no difference: then scored 8X after the update exactly equal
.
The browser seems to load pages faster in daily practice which the benchmark supports the experience in practice. Whether this difference is indeed a quarter, as the benchmark seems to indicate, is difficult on the eye fix.

id=”searchButton” class=”searchButton”> The scores of the graphical benchmark DFXBench are across the board higher than for the update. That would in practice should lead to smoother and faster performance in particular gaming. Because games optimized and tested on the same hardware, it is unclear which areas users, in reality benefit go.
on WPBench is po field of CPU, GPU and memory seen no improvement: there score the HTC 8X exactly the same as for the update <. / p>

id=”searchButton” class=”searchButton”> It is in line with expectations that phones with the same processor, the Samsung Ativ S and Nokia Lumia 820 and Lumia 920, take advantage of the performance benefits. How is that for phones with less powerful processors and GPUs, is unclear.
