First experience with HTC One mini - All About Phones

Suppose you are looking for a new smartphone and your budget is not enough to buy the latest top model. Yet you are looking for a device with sufficient opportunities and Android is your favorite OS. Do not forget to add to your wish list.

HTC One mini

The Taiwanese have a smaller version of their top model this week – the HTC One – shown to the world. During the Dutch introduction we got the chance to feel. The ‘mini’ to the tooth

The differences with his older and bigger brother are mainly visible on the specification list and when you put the two together. The One mini has a smaller screen (4.3 inch to 4.7 inch), a slower processor (1.4 Ghz to 1.7 Ghz), less memory (up to 16GB and 1GB RAM) and a smaller battery (up to 1800 mAh). In addition to these points were deleted some properties to the One, including the optical image stabilization in the camera, the infrared port and the NFC chip.

Promising

Despite the changes HTC has introduced a promising device, which fits entirely within the One-family. The device has the same distinctive design features as its bigger brother. The Mini One is 15 percent smaller and has the same aluminum casing as the One and the same high quality build quality. Speakers are placed on two sides of the screen that the excellent Beats Audio Boom Sound fired on us. The edges are not made in polished metal, but with a cheaper material called polycarbonate.

The compact form factor allows for comfortable operation in your hand. The unit can be operated at any time. With one hand or thumb The Super LCD2 touch screen includes an image display corresponding to the One. The pictures are displayed in the right way and not in direct sunlight we already had too much trouble with reading the information. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

In the Android interface immediately noticed the resemblance to the HTC One. 5 The HTC Sense interface is completely copied from the One. Parts as Blink Feed the dedicated car interface, and the beautiful weather animations are present. In Android device Despite the slower processor, there was no question of delay in the menu. The smooth operation suited us very well.

The HTC One mini is an excellent option for those who are looking for an Android smartphone with a simple interface, high specification and a lower price tag. The term ‘mini’ we do n ot find really fit the device. Although the unit more compact and lighter, the smartphone is absolutely no ‘little one’.

Competition

The main competitor in the middle is the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. The device was announced a few weeks ago and is the benchmark for HTC when it comes to premium features in a smaller package. The S4 mini has a faster 1.7 Ghz processor and more RAM memory, namely 1.5GB.

As for the price evade both coincide. The S4 mini is currently at an average price of 450 euros in the Dutch shops. The HTC One mini has a retail price of 449 euros. Expected to launch sales go towards the 400.

Availability

The HTC One mini is from September in Dutch shops and webshops. The smartphone is available in both black (Stealth Black) and in silver (Glacial Silver) available. HTC provides a range of accessories for the device, including the two different cases that you see below in the pictures.
