"Successor HTC One is the first HTC device with onscreen buttons' - Android World

The successor to the HTC One will most likely be presented at or just before the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona at the end of next month. Rumors about this new flagship doing the rounds for some time and the last thing we read is that this phone is the first device from HTC with onscreen buttons.

Physical vs. capacitive vs. onscreen

It remains difficult to choose what to do as a manufacturer of phones. well Are you going to do for physical buttons, or opt for capacitive buttons placed below the screen? It is also possible to choose so-called on-screen buttons. The various buttons all have pros and cons, but what now is the best choice remains difficult.

Onscreen buttons

Sony has already chosen to use times. Onscreen buttons These are – it lets itself – guess buttons displayed on the screen and enables you to navigate menus or to open. An advantage of this is, inter alia, that they can move in rotation with the screen, or can change as necessary. For example, the buttons can vary in different applications in appearance but also in terms of function and that can be useful. A disadvantage is that they occupy some space of the screen, you do not have back in physical or capacitive buttons.

Physical and capacitive buttons

Where Sony

therefore used onscreen buttons, Samsung makes use of both physical and capacitive buttons. The home button of all Samsung phones is a physical button. These impressions and you can literally feel some feedback when you press this button. The two buttons on the left and right of this button are capacitive buttons. These are touch sensitive buttons, just like a touchscreen, but give no physical “travel” when you press it, such as the home button of a Samsung or a keyboard of a laptop.

Advantages of this is that there is no screen space is occupied by the buttons, but a disadvantage is that phones sometimes are somewhat greater, because the buttons are still present even below the screen. Of course this is not always the case, but most phones with physical buttons are bigger than devices with onscreen buttons. Another disadvantage is that these buttons do not rotate when the phone is held horizontally so as to be in the onscreen version.

And then?

HTC has all sorts of physical and capacitive buttons used on their devices so far. On the HTC Legend and Desire example we saw physical buttons, where the One X One S and the switch was made to the capacitive buttons. Even when the One-series with the HTC One, One mini One max and the use of these types of buttons were continued. But the successor of the One would be the first handset from HTC stables that uses onscreen buttons.

This reports the famous masterpieces by great EVLeaks on his Twitter account:

This seems to be related to the first leaked images of covers of the successor of the HTC One who also were discussed together, but probably some bad photo shops are. However, we can assume that the successor might One + One or Two is onscreen buttons are going to get with any certainty. Specifications

The successor of the One would be a Snapdragon 800 or 805-soc Qualcomm get on board with 2GB of RAM. The screen will be slightly larger than the current one-model, ie 4.9 inches. The resolution would, however, have remained the same ie 1920 x 1080 pixels. The internal 16GB memory would amount to, but whether there will be a microSD card slot built into the new One is unknown. The device will be out-of-the-box running Android 4.4.2 and rumors also talk about the presence of two camera modules. There was also talk of an Ultra-pixel camera, but with a higher resolution of 6 or even 8 megapixels. The current used Ultra pixel camera has a resolution of 4 megapixels. Also, there is talk of the presence of a fingerprint scanner, because of the two openings, which can be seen in several cases leaked.

Availability

When this new flagship will be announced is the question, but we put our careful euros at the Mobile World Congress held in late February. Last year, HTC presented the One in the week before the major European exhibition.
