HTC and Nokia have the patent bury the hatchet and a mutual patent agreement. That means that companies can use.
a number of patents from each other smartphonesHTC and Nokia have hit each other several times in court for the possible infringement of patents of the counterparty. Recently, the sales of the HTC One in Germany briefly banned. Now there is a cross-licensing agreement, which the companies all the time freed from the tedious and uncertain going to court. HTC may now use a wide portfolio of Nokia patents in the field of smart phones, while Nokia may make use of HTC’s patents for LTE area.
Because the patents of Nokia are worth more than that of HTC use , the latter must pay extra to Nokia. How much money is involved, was not disclosed. Both companies prefer to speak of ‘collaboration’. HTC did a year ago a similar patent deal with Apple and Microsoft earlier. The deals mean that HTC has to pay all the companies money by selling smartphone. What is not clear. However, it is increasingly clear that more and more “other companies” are starting to benefit from the sale of HTC smartphones.
